Vienna Elementary School District 55 Board of Education met June 25.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Special Meeting of the Vienna Public School District No. 55 Board of Education was called to order by Ms. Sherie Smith, President at 5:00 p.m. with the following members present:

S. Smith, President

S. Borders, Vice-President

K. Johnson, Secretary 

P. Trovillion

L. Hook

T. Betts

Members absent: D. Clayton.

Others present: G. Frehner, J. Shanks, K. Denny, S. Robinson.

Recognition of Employees and Public

The teachers want to thank the Board and Mr. Frehner for taking the time to hire a new principal. They also want to thank Mr. Frehner for asking a teacher to be on the interview team for new teachers. The teachers are planning a potluck meet and greet for Mr. Hanks.

Closed Session

Motion by Borders seconded by Trovillion to go in to closed session at 5:02 p.m. to discuss (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Betts seconded by Borders to come out of closed session and return to regular open session at 6:35 p.m. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Let the records show the following items were discussed: (1) the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity.

Accept Resignation 

Mrs. Smith read a letter of resignation from Mrs. Lacey Schmidt, teacher.

Motion by Hook seconded by Borders to accept the resignation of Lacey Schmidt as presented. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Approve Voluntary Transfers

Motion by Johnson seconded by Borders to approve the voluntary transfer request of Julie Hook to a first grade teaching position for the 2019-20 school year. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Borders seconded by Hook to approve the voluntary transfer request of Kerry Denny to a fifth grade teaching position for the 2019-20 school year. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Motion by Borders seconded by Hook to approve the voluntary transfer request of Jodie Douglas to a junior high language arts teaching position for the 2019-20 school year. Roll call. Voting yes: Borders, Trovillion, Hook, Smith, Betts, Johnson. Voting no: none. Motion carried.

Adjourn

Motion by Hook seconded by Betts to adjourn at 6:41 p.m. All voted yea. Motion carried.
