Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 20.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, August 11-17, 2019;

August 12, 2019

Metropolis Officers were dispatched to a residence in the 2000 block of Greenview. Upon arrival, Officers spoke with Jeffrey A. Bailey,35, Metropolis who stated that he was cut three times by his wife armed with a box cutter during an argument. The investigation showed that the minor wounds did not match the entire story he was given the officers. Officers then spoke to the wife who stated that she was struck and shoved and she was attempting to gather belonging to leave the residence. After further interviewing the wife and witness, officers confronted Bailey with their beliefs. Bailey confessed to cutting himself. Bailey was arrested for making a false police report and well as Domestic Battery. Bailey was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a black Acura as it pulled into the Dollar General on W. 10th St. The license plates on the black Acura came back registered on a white 1992 Mercury. A computer check on the driver, Colton Shane Corn, 28, Austin TX came back with a suspended IL driver’s license. He also could not provide proof of insurance. Corn was arrested and charged with Driving while license suspended, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and improper use of registration. Corn was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was able to post bond and was released.

A Metropolis Officer stopped for two vehicles pulled over to the side of the road of I-24 WB milepost 38. One of the vehicles had broken down and was being followed by a maroon Chevrolet P/U being driven by Destini P Winstead,22, Anna, IL. A computer check revealed that she did not have a valid driver’s license and that her instruction permit expired over a year ago (February 2018). Tow trucks were called to tow both vehicles. Winstead was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was charged with driving without a drivers license. Winstead was able to post bond and was released.

August 13, 2019

Steven C Tinsely,62, Metropolis was arrested in the 200 block of Girard. Tinsley was arrested for Violation of an Order of Protection. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance in the street near 3rd and Metropolis St. the victim advised that she was struck by her boyfriend, Justin Morgan then advised his real name was Craig Morgan. Offices searched the area and he was located by the Metropolis Detective Sergeant on Front Street. Morgan initially gave his name as Justin Morgan. A computer check revealed that Justin was wanted on a McCracken County KY warrant. Morgan was arrested for Domestic Battery and the warrant and taken to the Massac County Detention Center for further investigation. While at the Detention Center, Morgan finally admitted that his real name was Craig Edward Morgan, 35. Craig Morgan was wanted on a warrant from Florida for Kidnapping and unlawful restraint type charges. Morgan was also charged with obstructing justice giving false identification.

A Metropolis Officer conducted a traffic stop on a silver Cadillac as it pulled into the Huck’s gas station. A computer check showed that the registered owner, John J. Snyder, 36, metropolis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear in court as required. He also could not provide proof of insurance. Snyder was charged with operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and no driver’s license on person. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center pending bond.

August 14, 2019

Paul C. McClamma,65, Metropolis was arrested in the 1200 block of Baynes. He was wanted on a Massac County warrant for driving while suspended. McClamma was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

August 15, 2019

Jennifer R. Wilson, 28, Metropolis was arrested for possession of Methamphetamine. She was found to be in possession of a clear plastic baggie, while on the boat ramp off Ferry St. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Police arrested bobby W. Brisentine, 18, Metropolis for Retail Theft. In July video surveillance captured him stealing a bottle of whiskey. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to Harrah’s Casino and Hotel. Gaming Board Agents advised that two subjects were captured on video urinating on the walls on the 4th floor of the hotel. Officers located the subjects. Nathan Pitts, 21, Joy, FL and John C Fortner, 48, Joy FL were arrested for Disorderly Conduct. Fortner was also charged with resisting arrest for struggling with officers while being handcuffed. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Cetner.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
