SOUTHERN SEVEN HEALTH DEPARTMENT: The First Human Case of West Nile Virus in Illinois for 2019 has been reported

Southern Seven Health Department issued the following announcement on Aug. 14.

"The Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) is reporting the first confirmed HUMAN case of West Nile Virus in Illinois for 2019. A Chicago resident in his 70s became ill in late July." See the attached photos for the full News Release.

West Nile Virus is transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito which has picked up the virus by feeding on an infected bird. Remember, if you find a sick or dying crow, blue jay, robin, or other perching bird contact Southern 7 Health Department at 618-634-2297.
