City of Anna issued the following announcement on July 16.

Free Swim Day at the Anna City Pool will be held on July 27th from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

The City of Anna and Anna-Jonesboro National Bank are teaming up to offer a free swim day at the Anna City Pool to all swimmers 16 and under. Plans include entertainment by Mystify Music and Whiffle Boys pizza by the slice available at the pool’s concession stand where each swimmer gets 1 free cold drink. The city’s police and fire department will have volunteers present to hand out giveaways next to the pool parking lot where there will be a police squad car and a fire truck on display. There will also be a tent with fans set up to give the overflow of the 199 max capacity allowed in the pool area at once a cool spot to relax until it’s their turn to enjoy the pool.

The initial goal was to simply provide our youth throughout Union County communities a safe and fun filled day without having to spend a dime. Please join us as summer vacation is coming to an end and we get ready to kick off another school year. With the school year in mind, lets demonstrate to our kids the importance of lending a helping hand to a neighbor in need. The flooding that has affected many students’ families, specifically in the southern part of the Shawnee School district is the perfect opportunity to do this. We are collecting school supplies to help as many of the impacted students as possible and their families have one less thing to worry about as they continue to recover. If you would like to help, please drop off school supplies at Anna City Hall or 1 of the 4 Anna-Jonesboro Bank locations anytime during business hours between now and August 7th.
