Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on July 2.

June 24, 2019
Kyle B. Hurst,32, Metropolis was arrested in the 1000 block of E. 2nd St. Hurst was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear- theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 25, 2019
Robert Brad Klotz, 32, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery. Officers were advised by the victim that she was struck and kicked by Klotz at a residence in the 1900 block of Simmons. Klotz was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 26, 2019
A Metropolis Officer attempted to stop a male riding a bicycle and wearing a backpack at 9:00 pm that did not have a headlight and was difficult to see. The rider, Michael S Hurst,50, Metropolis looked at the officer and continued to ride away even after the officer hit his siren and yelled at him to stop. Hurst continued for a few blocks before getting of the bike. Hurst was very belligerent and angry. Hurst was advised he was under arrest for resisting/obstructing (for not stopping). A search revealed a debit card which did not belong to him as well as drug paraphernalia. Hurst was charged with bicycle violations, possession of lost/mislaid debit card, obstructing/resisting arrest. Hurst then started making threats against the officer and was also charged with threatening a public official. Hurst was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The Metropolis K9 officer observed a white Chevrolet GEO fail to stop for the stop sign on 6th and Filmore. A traffic stop was made, and the officer observed the driver attempt to get into the back seat and the passenger slide to the driver’s seat. The driver Michael J Seaton,34, Metropolis has a suspended driver’s license. A computer check on the vehicle revealed that the plates registered to a 2001 Chrysler and that they were expired in March 2019. The plate had been altered to attempt to show and expiration of August 2019. Seaton was also found to have a warrant issued by McCracken County KY for probation violation. Seaton was charged with Driving while license suspended, obstructing justice, disobey stop sign, unlawful use of registration, unlawful altering of registration and the warrant. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 27, 2019
Randy D Pugh,54, Metropolis was arrested at the courthouse annex. A Metropolis Detective observed Pugh at the courthouse and was aware that Pugh was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by McCracken County, KY for felony theft. Pugh was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Michael W. Brown,44, Oak forest, Il was arrested in the 1000 block of Broadway. Brown was wanted on warrants. The first warrant was issued by Kendall County, IL for driving while license suspended. The second warrant was issued by DuPage County, Il for child support offenses. Brown was able to post bond and was released after being processed at the Metropolis Police Dept.
June 28, 2019
At 1:59 am, Metropolis Officers were called for fireworks going off in the area of 6th and Yasoda. A Metropolis Sergeant located a 16 year old male in a vehicle in the 500 block of Yasoda. The officer could see smoke and smell the gunpowder in the air. The officer found numerous types of fireworks. The officer could also detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage on the minor’s breath. The officer located an open beer and numerous cold cans of beer in the vehicle. The 16 year old was charged with possession of fireworks, possession of alcohol by a minor, curfew and consumption of alcohol by a minor. He was released to a parent and given a court date.
Paducah Police called and informed the Metropolis Police that a vehicle had been reported stolen to them. They further advised that they believed it was on Adkins St. Officers located the vehicle and the driver, Jada I Christ,20, Paducah, KY was arrested for possession of a stolen motor vehicle. Christ was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
A Metropolis Officer stopped a white Nissan on W. 10th and Johnson St. A computer check on the driver, Zak A Anderson,26, Metropolis revealed that he had a suspended drivers license. Anderson could not provide proof of insurance. Anderson was arrested and transported to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was charged with driving while license suspended, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Anderson posted bond and was released.
Elizabeth I Parmley,26, Metropolis was arrested for DUI and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle at the Humma Apartments. Metropolis officers responded to a medical call at that location. Upon arrival, Officers learned that the victim was complaining of chest pains due to seatbelt. Investigation revealed that Parmley struck a gas line after jumping the curb in the back-parking lot. Parmley had a strong odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath, and other indicators of intoxication. She failed the field sobriety tests. Parmely was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
