Union County Board of Commissioner met May 24.

I. Call Meeting to Order
The Union County Board of Commissioners met for a regular meeting in the Union County Courthouse Community Room at 08:30am. County Chairman Max Miller called the meeting to order.
II. Roll Call
Commissioners in attendance are Kent Pitts, Bobby Toler Jr., Dale Foster and Max Miller. David Gould is absent.
III. Approval of Minutes
None
IV. Public Comments
Mrs. Shari Sweeney-Sadowski invited everyone to the Annabelle Festival that will be held June 7th & 8th in downtown Anna.
Mr. Miller than asked if any elected officials had anything to announce. Lance Meisenheimer, Union County Clerk & Recorder stated that he recently attended the Fidlar Symposium and learned many new items to be used by the County Clerk & Recorders Office. One is the Property Fraud Alert system that is free for anyone to sign up. It is a service that will alert a person if their name has been recorded in the office under any circumstance. Individuals are asked to sign up for this program to help protect their property.
Grant Capel, Union County Ambulance Director, stated that the newest ambulance was involved in a collision with a deer recently. Mr. Capel stated that the county's insurance company, Wrights Body shop and Osage Ambulance worked very fast and smoothly to repair the Ambulance in less than 10 days. Also, Mr. Capel wanted to recognize the employees at the UCAS because it is EMS week and thank other people and business for supporting them with food and gifts throughout the week.
Crystal Gurley, Union County 911 Director, wanted to announce that the Hyper Reach system reached out to over 3000 citizens this week to notify them of the bad storms that were approaching. She is looking for way to help spread the word for people to sign up for this service. She also announced that the Sheriff's Office and 911 have put out a RFP for new digital radios.
Tiffany Busby, Union County Circuit Clerk, stated that new laws are coming on July 1st and the county has to pass a resolution by then to collect new fees and if not passed the county will not be allowed to collect all the fees. She stated that she and the States Attorney are working on the resolution and should have it ready before the deadline.
Mr. Miller stated that people around the river area are in much need of help for sand bagging and other way of help and he asked if you can to go and help.
V. Committee Reports
Mr. Toler stated that the Southern Five grants for the police cameras are still available and the grant for the schools and Sheriff's Office are starting to come through. He also attended the Shawnee Development meeting and the energy assistance grants are still available. The Department of Defense is setting up a Tri State IRT, which are no cost places for free medical and dental exams. It will be at the Cairo High School from June 14th- 22nd

A. Employment Agreement for County Engineer Mr. Miller made the motion to approve the agreement between the County and Mr. Grammer. Mr. Foster seconded the motion.

B. Addendum to Employment Agreement for County Administrator
Mr. Miller explained that several additional responsibilities have been given to
the administrator that was not included in her original contract. Preparing the counties budget, tax levies and bonds have been hired out in the past and cost the county around $20,000.00 that now is being done in house by the administer The Commissioners asked the States Attorney to draw up an addendum for her contract with the listed responsibilities and compensation of a stipend for those duties. Mr. Miller made the motion to approve the agreement between the county and county administrator. Mr. Pitts seconded the motion.

C. Ground Transportation Agreement by and between Air Evac EMS Inc. d/b/a
Air Evac Lifeteam and Union County Ambulance Service. Grant Caple asked to table this until some language was cleared up on the contract.
D. Ordinance Amending Article II of Chapter 18 of the Union County Code of
Ordinances Regarding Privet Sewage Disposal Pursuant to 55 ILCS 5/5-15010 Mr. Miller stated that this was something that Southern Seven asked all the counties to amend so that they would all be consistent. Mr. Miller than made the motion to pass the amendment to the ordinance and Mr. Foster seconded the motion.

E. Declare Surplus Property for Highway Department.
Kevin Grammer, County Engineer, then presented a list of items to be listed as surplus property. Mr. Miller then made a motion to list those items as surplus and Mr. Toler seconded the motion.
