Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on June 27.
From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, June 16-22, 2019;
June 16, 2019
At 2:54 am, A Metropolis Officer observed a black Chevrolet Cruz missing its front IL license plate. A computer check on the plate revealed that the car had been reported stolen. The officer followed the vehicle into the Acee’s truck stop were a felony traffic stop was conducted. There were two other occupants in the vehicle. the driver, Steven Chase Schmidt,34, Metropolis was arrested and charged with possession of a stolen vehicle, the female occupant, amber Nicole Forthman, 24, Brookport was wanted on a felony warrant issued by Ballard County, KY. The warrant was for failure to appear. A search of the vehicle, found a loaded.45 handgun, as well as Meth, Heroin, and drug paraphernalia. Gary D McDuffee, 30, Metropolis was charged with unlawful use of a weapon, no FOID, Possession of Methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance (heroin), possession with intent to deliver, and possession of drug paraphernalia. All were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Derek R. Doss, 37, Metropolis was arrested outside the Metropolis Police Dept. Doss was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by McCracken County, KY for failure to appear. Doss was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were advised that Aaron G. Holma,36, Paducah, KY was at a residence in the 300 block of Oak Dr. Holman was wanted for a domestic violence incident that had occurred earlier in the week. Holman was located in the front yard of the residence. Holman was arrested for Domestic Battery and interference with a 911 call. Holman was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
June 18, 2019
Jimmy L Darnell,69, Metropolis was arrested for driving while license suspended in the 1100 block of Catherine. Darnell was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Myles H. Childress, 52, Harrisburg, IL was arrested for driving while license suspended at 8th and Ferry St. Childress was able to post bond and was released after being processed at the MPD.
June 20, 2019
Amanda J Jennings, 34, Metropolis was arrested for violation of an order of protection. Metropolis police were called to an apartment in the 800 block of Parkview. The caller stated that Jennings had forced her way into the apartment. MPD confirmed the valid order of protection. Jennings was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
