Q4 2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Pope County?

There were three offenders released on parole during the fourth quarter that live in Pope County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Southern Illinois News.

The data shows that two men and one woman were released in Pope County. Of the parolees, one is a veteran, and the median age is 27. The youngest parolee was a 23-year-old woman sentenced for a property crime in 2018, and the oldest was a 32-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2018.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Jacob D. Smith. He was convicted of a property crime in 2017 when he was 25 years old. He is now 26.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the fourth quarter in each Pope County municipality.
