Q3 2018 Parolees Recap: Who was paroled in Union County?

There were seven offenders released on parole during the third quarter that live in Union County, according to Illinois Department of Corrections data obtained by Southern Illinois News.

The data shows that five men and two women were released in Union County. The median age of the parolees was 36. The youngest parolee was a 25-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2017, and the oldest was a 60-year-old man sentenced for a crime involving drugs in 2016.

The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Steven D. Meier. He was convicted of a crime involving drugs in 2016 when he was 57 years old. He is now 60.

Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.

The table below gives a breakdown of how many offenders were paroled in the third quarter in each Union County municipality.
