Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on June 10.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrrest Summary, June 2-8, 2019;

June 3, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to the Super Suds on W. 10th Street. Upon arrival, Officers were informed by the owner/victim that he arrived at the laundry mat to find multiple items in the parking lot. The dog washing station had also been damaged, and water was pouring out of it from broken lines. Ryne C Collins, 35, homeless, stated the he was selling the items as well as the building. Collins was arrested and charged with Burglary and criminal damage to property. Collins was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 4, 2019

Around midnight, Officers were called for suspicious persons in the area of the 100 block of W. 20th St. Offices located Melvin D Davis Jr,34, Metropolis in the alley. Officers observed a glass smoking pipe in his open backpack. Further search found meth and clear plastic baggies tied off like drug dealers use to sell their dope. One of the baggies had a white powdery substance in it. Davis was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a look a like substance. Davis was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 5, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to shots fired in the rear of Ft Massac State Psrk. Upon arrival, a Metropolis Sergeant observed Christian Elan Walker, 25, Metropolis walking with a weapon. The weapon was a sawed off.410 shotgun. Walker was charged with unlawful use of a weapon and no FOID card. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 6, 2019

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a black Chevrolet Equinox in the 900 block of Johnson St. The Sergeant observed that the passenger of the Chevrolet was David S. Hines,24, Grantsburg, Il. Hines was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear in court on a Cannabis and paraphernalia charge. As the Sergeant was attempting take Hines into custody the driver, Chelsea Marie McBride,30, Metropolis kept trying to get out of the vehicle. She was told numerous times to get back in the vehicle while the arrest was taking place. She was uncooperative. Once back in the car she pushed open the door into a Metropolis Officer. She was then advised she was going to be detained. McBride resisted arrest and had to be forcibly taken into custody. A search found a loaded hypodermic syringe with Meth as well as other drug paraphernalia. Hines was arrested on the warrant and lodged in the Massac County Detention center. McBride was charged with resisting arrest, obstructing a peace officer, possession of Methamphetamine and possession of drug paraphernalia. McBride was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 1700 block of Filmore. Upon arrival, a Metropolis Sergeant observed a glass Meth pipe sticking out of the pocket of Robert A Smith, 60, Metropolis. Smith was charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

June 7, 2019

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a silver Chevrolet on 12th St at US 45. The vehicle had a defective headlight. A computer check on the driver, Christina M. Riley,35, Paducah, KY, revealed that she had a suspended driver’s license. Riley was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
