The data shows that all of the released offenders in Cairo were men. The median age of the parolees was 42. The youngest parolee was a 30-year-old man sentenced for a crime against a person in 2017, and the oldest was a 58-year-old man sentenced for a financial crime or fraud in 2017.
The offender who had been incarcerated the longest was Edwin F. Underwood. He was convicted of a property crime in 2011 when he was 32 years old. He is now 40.
Under state law, paroled offenders are still in legal custody of the IDOC, meaning they can be taken back to a correctional center at any time if the state has probable cause or a warrant.
