Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on June 3.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, May 26-June 1, 2019;

As a reminder, the Annual Superman Celebration kicks off this Thursday. Please be mindful of the extra pedestrian traffic this weekend. We are updating our computer reprt system. Some arrests over weekend might not have been completed. Will add them next week if applicable. ~ Director Masse

May 26, 2019

The Metropolis K9 officer stopped a white GMC pick-up truck on US 45 near 12th St. The driver failed to stop for the flashing red light on 12th and US 45. The driver, Dianna S Whited,18, Metropolis did not have a valid driver’s license. The K9 alerted to the presence of drugs inside the vehicle. A subsequent search led to the arrest Of Whited for Possession of a controlled substance. (Buprenorphine Naloxone.) The passengers, Quaid A.L. Adams,28 Brookport-possession of Methamphetamines, and Kyle A. Cunningham26, Brookport with possession of a controlled substance. (Tramadol). All 3 were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to the Humma Apartments. The caller stated a subject was acting strange and making them nervous. Upon arrival, the Metropolis K9 Officer observed the subject. As the officer was exiting his squad car the subject looked at him and took off running. A foot chase ensued. The subject was caught a block later. Raymond B Derry, 34, Brookport was found to be in possession of a baggie of Meth as well as a used syringe. Derry was charged possession of Meth, Possession of hypodermic syringe/needle and resisting arrest.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a Maroon Buick SUV near the Spence Apartments. A computer check on the driver, Krista J Scot,32, Brookport revealed that her driver’s license was suspended. Scot was able to post bond and the Metropolis Police Dept and was released.

May 27, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to Casey’s in reference to a theft. The manager advised that a subject she recognized as Christopher G Harris, 38, Brookport had pumped gas into his dark gray HHR and left without paying. Officers took the report. Later on, a Metropolis Officer located the car back at Casey’s. Harris was located in the gaming area playing the video machines. Investigation further revealed that he had left an 18 month old child inside the vehicle while he was gambling. Harris was arrested for the theft and a search found him to be in possession of Meth and a controlled substance (Alprazolam). Harris was charged with the theft of fuel, possession of Meth, Possession of a controlled substance and child endangerment. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. The baby was turned over to Harris’s mother. ***Correction; Harris was arrested at the Citgo where he was found gambling.not Casey's. sorry about that!!***

Thomas L Hodge, 30, Burna, KY was arrested in the 100 block of W. 11th. Hodge was captured on video stealing an item from the Dollar General a few weeks earlier. Hodge was charged with retail theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
