Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on May 21.

From the office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, May 12-18, 2019;

May 13, 2019

Metropolis Officers responded to a residence in the 800 block of E. 7th St for a domestic disturbance. Upon arrival, Officers learned from the victim and neighbors that Robert W. Wheeler, 69, Metropolis pushed, shoved and twisted the arm of the victim. Wheeler was arrested for domestic battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

May 14, 2019

A Metropolis Officer observed a white Chrysler proceeding down Catherine St. The officer recognized the driver as Ryne L Collins, 35, Metropolis. The officer was aware that Collins had as revoked driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted and a compute check confirmed that Collins had a revoked DL. Collins was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 700 block of E. 6th St. An alert neighbor called to state that he saw some people enter a garage and they were not the homeowners. Upon arrival, Metropolis officers observed 3 people in the garage and heard music playing. Derrick D Everett, 47, Metropolis was found to be wanted on warrants. Everett was wanted by the IL Dept of Corrections on a parole violation and was wanted by Pope County, Il for contempt of court. Everett was arrested on the warrants. Shannon L Goss,32, Metropolis was found to be in possession of numerous credit/debit cards that did not belong to her. She was arrested for possession of debit cards belonging to others. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

May 15, 2019

Rejendra C Shah, 70, Hoffman Estates, IL was arrested at Harrah’s Casino. Shah had been previously trespassed from Casino property. Shad was charged with criminal trespass to property. Shah was taken to the Metropolis police Dept for processing. He was able to post bond and was released.

May 17, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to Harrah’s Casino. Officers met with IL Gaming agents and security. Officers were advised that Ruth E Jean-Jumeau, 20, Nashville, TN attempted to gain entry to the casino using her cousin’s ID. Jean-Jumeau was arrested for unlawful use of an identification card. She was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was able to post bond and was released.

May 18, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to the Zone in the 600 block of Market St for a theft. Upon arrival, Officers were informed that James C Wheeler, 44, Metropolis had been stealing merchandise and money. Officers viewed the video surveillance which confirmed the thefts. Wheeler was located and arrested. Wheeler was charged with theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
