Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on April 23.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, April 14-20, 2019;

April 16, 2019

Metropolis Offices responded to Metropolis Drugs #2 in the 1000 block of E. 5th in reference to an alarm. Upon arrival, Offices learned that a subject later identified as Garrett L. Collins,32, Jesup, GA, had attempted to fill forged prescription. Investigation revealed that the victim doctor had his DEA number and ID stolen. After further investigation, Collins was arrested and charged with ID Theft. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to the 1400 block of Girard. Upon arrival, Officers could hear a female yelling obscenities and threatening people outside a residence. Officers could detect an odor of an alcoholic beverage on her breath and she appeared to be intoxicated. The woman, Lottie R Sexton, 49, Metropolis was told numerous times to calm down and go back inside her residence. Sexton refused and continued her tirade. Sexton was arrested for Disorderly Conduct and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 17, 2019

Kayla M Birdwell,29, Metropolis was arrested in the 800 block of W. 18th St. Birdwell was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for failure to appear – violation of an order of protection. Birdwell was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

April 19, 2019

A 16 year od female juvenile was arrested for Domestic Battery after she struck her mother numerous times at a residence on E 7th St. She was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. She was then released to her father who lives out of state pending a court hearing.

April 20, 2019

Metropolis Officers responded to a residence on Lois Lane. The victim stated that she returned home and found that her front door was damaged. She found Jason Beau Sutton, 42, Metropolis passed out inside. Sutton had been previously trespassed from the residence. Officers located him inside the apartment. Sutton was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass and Criminal Damage. He was processed at the Metropolis Police Dept and released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
