Union County State's Attorney issued the following announcement on April 2.
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Chad Anthony Miller (DOB 1/21/1991) of Dongola, Illinois has been indicted by the Union County Grand Jury on twenty three (23) counts of Child Pornography with twenty (20) counts being Class X Felonies and three (3) counts being Class 2 Felonies. Miller was also indicted on one (1) count of Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony. Miller is charged with taking photographs of a child under the age of 13 and sharing child pornography through a mobile phone application. Miller was initially arrested in February 2019 on the Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse charge following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office is ongoing with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office.
Miller is being held in the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro on $500,000.00 bond. The matter is set for Arraignment on Thursday, April 4, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro.
The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
