The price of local government in 2016: City of Mounds

The City of Mounds budget was $1.99 million for its 2016 fiscal year, or $4,248 per household.

That's a decrease of 0.9 percent from 2015, when the city spent $2.01 million, or $4,288 per household.

Mounds has 469 households and a population of 810.

Since 2001, the City of Mounds budget has grown by 1.1 percent, from $1.97 million. The city population has fallen 27.5 percent over the same period, from 1,117.

Salaries accounted for 20 percent of city spending in 2016. Mounds property taxpayers paid $398,360 for seven full-time employees and 40 part-time employees.

In 2001, the city had 10 full-time employees and 11 part-time employees, and spent $275,036.
