Vienna School District 55 issued the following announcement on Feb. 8.
Seventh and eighth grade students at Vienna Grade School are competing against middle school students from across Illinois in The Stock Market Game (https://www.stockmarketgame.org) this Spring semester. Students are exploring the fundamentals of personal finance and investing, while practicing content and skills in math, English Language Arts, economics, social studies, and other subjects. Working together to build and manage an investment portfolio in a real-world, dynamic marketplace, Vienna Grade School 7th and 8th graders are learning to analyze and make decisions, explore the consequences of financial choices, and seek new ways to develop a strategy for financial success. This is the 4th year that Vienna Grade School students are competing in the Stock Market Game. Each team is given $100,000 in virtual money to invest in stocks, bonds or mutual funds. Teams from Vienna Grade School have won this competition two out of the last three years! This project is a part of the year-long Jr. High Leadership Course that is offered to all 7th and 8th graders.
