Report: Goreville spent $8,815 per student in 2017-18

Spending per pupil at Goreville Community Unit School District 1 is down 7.6 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2017-18 report card shows the Johnson County school district spent $9,541 per pupil in 2013-14. It spent $8,815 in 2017-18.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 618 to 597.

Goreville's spending in 2017-18 was 33.9 percent lower than the state average of $13,337.
