Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 28.

From the Desk of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, January 20-26, 2019;

January 22, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to a burglary at a residence in the Spence Apartments. Upon arrival, Officers gathered information from the victim. A suspect was determined. The investigation led the officers to another apartment in Spence. As officers were speaking with the tenant of that apartment, permission was granted to look for the suspect. As officers entered, they recognized a female, Diana S. Whited, 18, Metropolis. Whited was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for possession of a hypodermic needle/syringe. Whited was arrested. The officers then found their suspect, Steven J Youman, 24, Karnak hiding in the shower. Proceeds from the burglary were also found in the apartment. Youman was charged with theft and residential burglary. They were both lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 23, 2019

Christian A Tolbert,23, Metropolis was arrested in an apartment on Lois Ln. Tolbert was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Pope Co, IL for failure to appear. Tolbert was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

James C Stevens, 36, Metropolis was arrested for Criminal Trespass to property. Stevens had been advised that he was not allowed on Casey’s General Store property. Stevens kept returning and the clerk finally signed a complaint. Stevens was released on bond.

January 24, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to the area of Harrah’s for a suspicious person. While checking the area, A Metropolis Officer observed, James C Stevens, 36, Metropolis walking into a residence in the 200 block of Girard. As Offices stopped in front, Stevens exited the residence. The owner advised that Stevens was not welcome there and had to leave. Stevens refused. Stevens was arrested for Criminal Trespass to property. Stevens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis officers were called to a residence in the 1700 block of Filmore. The caller stated that a subject was beating on the door with a pipe. Upon arrival, Offices observed Andrea N. Travis, 27, Paducah, Ky standing outside the residence. The owner stated that he did not want her there. Offices informed Travis numerous times that she had to leave but she refused. Travis was arrested for Criminal Trespass and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

January 26, 2019

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of E. 3rd. Upon arrival officers were informed that Alan D. Taylor II, 29, Metropolis was out of control and tearing things up. A computer check revealed that Taylor was wanted on warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Att. Arson and assault. Offices informed Taylor he was under arrest and he stated no. Taylor then began fighting the officers. Taylor was taken into custody and charged with the warrant and resisting arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were advised that Alan D. Taylor Sr, 53, Metropolis was observed in the 800 block of E. 5th St. Taylor was wanted on warrants. The warrants were for domestic Battery and Violation of an order of protection. As offices approached Taylor fled on foot. He was caught a few blocks away. Taylor was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
