UNION COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY: Jonesboro Woman Sentenced to Prison for Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence

Union County State's Attorney issued the following announcement on Jan. 22. 

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced today that Judy Ann McCann-Stearns (DOB 9/28/1965) of Jonesboro, Illinois has been sentenced to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Aggravated Driving While Under the Influence, a Class 2 Felony. McCann-Stearns will serve a two (2) year period of Mandatory Supervised Release. McCann-Stearns was arrested in November 2018 following a traffic crash investigation conducted by Union County Sheriff’s Deputies. McCann-Stearns, while intoxicated, drove a vehicle at a high rate of speed on State Route 127 North with a passenger and crashed into a ditch. The charge was elevated to a Class 2 Felony because this is McCann-Stearns' fourth (4th) conviction for Driving Under the Influence. The case was prosecuted by Assistant State’s Attorney, Lisa C. Casper.
