UNION COUNTY STATE'S ATTORNEY: Jonesboro Man Charged with Aggravated Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine

Union County State's Attorney issued the following announcement on Jan. 4.

Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds, announced today that charges have been filed against Kevin E. Smith (DOB 10-09-1967) of 301 South Orange Street in Jonesboro in connection with a traffic stop conducted by Jonesboro Police on January 3, 2019. Smith is charged with Aggravated Unlawful Delivery with the Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine, a Class X Felony. Smith is charged with possessing more than 15 but less than 100 grams of methamphetamine in a vehicle protected by a firearm. Smith is currently being held at the Jackson County Jail in Murphysboro on $500,000 bond and will make his first appearance at the Union County Courthouse in Jonesboro on Tuesday, January 8, 2018.

The Union County State’s Attorney’s Office reminds the public that charges are not evidence of guilt. A defendant is presumed innocent and is entitled to a fair trial in which the government has the burden of proving guilt beyond a reasonable doubt.
