Shawnee Community Unit School District 84 issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.
Congratulations to Autumn McMahan for placing 3rd in the Voice of Democracy Sectional for the VFW 15th District. She competed against schools of all sizes, and the district covers from Franklin County to the southern tip of Illinois. Below are pictures from Saturday's banquet. The first picture includes the 1st & 2nd place sectional student winners, as well as VFW leadership from the 15th district and the second picture is with Mrs. Nash-Mayberry, her social-science teacher.
