Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 7.
From the office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, December 30, 2018 – January 5, 2019;
December 30, 2018
Metropolis Officers responded with EMS to a medical call at 9th and Girard. The caller advised a male subject was unconscious on the sidewalk. A metropolis Officer arrived first and observed pills in the subject’s hands. The officer believing that the subject overdosed, administered Narcan. The subject, Joshua W. McManus, 31, Metropolis immediately woke up. Officers also found him to be in possession of Xanax and Methadone. McManus was charged with Possession of a controlled substance. After being cleared by medical personnel, he was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers responded to a crash in the 500 block of W. 20th. Kayla M. Dare, 24, Rosiclare, IL was driving a red Nissan and struck a parked car. A computer check revealed that her driver’s license expired over 3 years ago. Dare who was pregnant complained of pain in her abdomen area. EMS transported her to Lourde’s Hospital in KY. Dare was charged with no valid driver’s license and released on bond.
December 31, 2018
A Metropolis Officer stopped a red dodge {ick-up truck at 5th and Filmore. The license was obstructed, and it also had a defective taillight. A computer check on the driver, James D. Dunlap, 35, Vienna, IL revealed that his driver’s license was expired for almost a year. Dunlap could not provide proof of insurance. Dunlap was arrested and charged with No valid driver’s license, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle and the equipment violations. Dunlap was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were called to the area of Coburn and 12th. The caller stated a pick-up truck was revving its engine and driving up and down Coburn waking the children. The Chief and a Metropolis Sergeant arrived in the area. They observed a white pick up truck traveling south on Coburn at a high rate of speed and fail to stop at the stop sign. A traffic stop was attempted however, the driver sped up and attempted to get away. A pursuit ensued finally coming to an end on 17th and Market where the pick-up truck became stuck in the mud. The driver, Louis A Triplett, 55, resisted arrest and was eventually taken into custody. While fighting with Triplett, Aimee M Cochrane, 35, Metropolis came out of her residence and got into the middle of the situation. She refused to leave and was arrested for Obstruction of Justice. A computer check on Triplett revealed that his license was suspended. He was also found to be in possession of Heroin and Meth. Triplett was charged with Possession of a controlled substance, possession of Meth, aggravated fleeing to elude, resisting arrest, driving while license suspended, and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The Metropolis K9 officer observed a subject he recognized as Joshua MO Davis, 33, Metropolis walking with another person on 6th and Oak St. The officer was aware that Davis was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Forgery. Upon seeing the police, Davis fled. A search was conducted with the assistance of a Massac County Deputy and other Metropolis officers. Davis was tracked to an apartment in the Spence complex. Davis was taken into custody and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
January 1, 2019
Metropolis Officers were called to the Family Dollar Store for a theft. Officers were given a description of the offender. A Metropolis Sergeant observed the offender, later identified as Andrea N. Travis, 27, Paducah, KY walking in the alley near Vienna St. she was taken into custody and returned to the Family Dollar where she was positively identified as the offender. Travis was arrested for Retail Theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
January 2, 2019
Metropolis Officers were called to Spence Apartments. A 16 year old juvenile was out of control. Upon arrival, Offices learned that the juvenile had punched holes in a door and walls. After speaking with authorities from Massac Housing, the juvenile was arrested and charged with criminal damage to state supported property. The juvenile was then detained until later on that afternoon where he could go before a juvenile judge.

A Metropolis Sergeant observed a white Dodge pick up truck pull into Casey’s gas station from 10th St. the Sergeant recognized the driver as Cody Lee Coburn, 21, Brookport, IL. The Sergeant was aware that Coburn had a suspended driver’s license. A computer check confirmed this. A traffic stop was conducted. Coburn could not provide proof of insurance. Coburn was arrested and charged with Driving while license suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Coburn was transported to the Metropolis Police Department for processing. Coburn was able to post bond and was released.
Metropolis Officers were called to Family Dollar for a theft. Upon arrival, Offices met with the manager and a female later identified as Renee M. Rentfro, 34, Metropolis. The manager stated that Rentfro had left the store without paying for items she had secreted under her shirt. Rentfro was charged with Retail Theft and taken to the Metropolis Police Department for processing. Rentfro was able to post bond and was released.
January 5, 2019
Metropolis Officers arrested Roger Burton Harris, 54, Metropolis at E. 5th and E. 8th Street. Harris had been involved in a road rage incident. A computer check revealed that Harris had a revoked IL driver’s license. Harris was transported to the Metropolis Police Department. He was able to post bond and was released.
A Metropolis Officer stopped a Beige Buick on Devers @ Gurley Rd. The registration came back to a Mercury. A computer check on the driver, Tabatha D. McIntosh,30, Metropolis revealed that her license was suspended and that the proper registration to the Buick were suspended. She could not provide proof of insurance to the Buick. McIntosh was arrested and charged with improper use of registration, driving while license suspended. Operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, and operation of a motor vehicle with suspended registration. McIntosh was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
