Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Jan. 1.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, December 16-29, 2018;

December 18, 2018

A Metropolis Officer stopped a white GMC Jimmy on E. 5th and Oak St. A computer check revealed that the driver, Ronald A Eftink (Jr), 39, Metropolis had an expired driver’s license and that he was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Retail Theft. Eftink also could not provide proof of insurance. Eftink was arrested for the warrant and also charged with driving while license expired an operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 22, 2018

Brendon M. Kozuszek,22, Metropolis was arrested at a residence in the 900 block of Ferry. Kozuszek was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for a petition to revoke conditional discharge – No valid driver’s license. Kozuszek was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance on Walter Drive. Upon arrival, Officers observed Davis M. Littlemeyer, 34, Metropolis. Littlemeyer appeared to be under the influence of something. Littlemeyer stated he had gone to the residence to buy drugs and was struck by an occupant. The victim showed officers damage to a window and door. This was caused by Littlemeyer striking them with a baseball bat. Littlemeyer was arrested for Criminal damage to property. While enroute to the jail, Littlemeyer banged his head against the prisoner transport cage causing an injury to his forehead. Littlemeyer then stated he would be suing the city for his injury. When advised it was captured on in-car video, he became more upset. Littlemeyer was then taken to the emergency room at Massac Memorial for treatment. Littlemeyer continued being belligerent and threatening. Upon released from the hospital, he was lodged at the Massac County Detention Center.

December 23, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to Harrah’s. IL Gaming Agents had detained a subject for theft. Upon arrival, Officers learned that Edward E. Gilstrap,42, Eubanks, KY was captured on video surveillance steaking a purse. Gilstrap was arrested for theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant attempted to stop a white Chevrolet Cruze on 19th Street for driving without headlights when required (9:10pm). The driver and passenger fled on foot after the vehicle drove into a ditch. Laken R. Atkinson, 27, Metropolis was found at Alice and Sterling and denied being the driver. Officers observed two syringes sticking out of her purse. They contained Meth. Atkinson was arrested for possession of Meth and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center. The investigation is still continuing.

December 24, 2018

Metropolis officers were called to a disturbance on Crestview. Ryne L. Collins, 35, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Richard Carlos Guzman, 45, Metropolis was arrested for DUI on Brooks Lane. Officers had responded to a residence for a call of a disturbance. While outside, Guzman pulled up. He had obvious signs of intoxication and had a strong odor of alcohol on his breath. Guzman was transported to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing. He was able to post bond and was released.

December 25, 2018

Metropolis Offices were called to the self-storage units on W. 10th St for a disturbance. Upon arrival, Offices learned that Jennifer L Bradley, 39, Metropolis had been in an argument with her husband whom she is separated from. When he tried to leave, she tried to stop him with her vehicle. She ended up striking a pole and the victim’s vehicle. Bradley was arrested for Reckless Driving, she was taken to the police department for processing. She was released on bond.

Metropolis Officers were called to a disturbance on Simmons. Upon arrival, Officers observed the victim and Jeffrey Garrett, 54, Metropolis fighting. Garrett was arrested for Battery and Disorderly Conduct. Garret was transported to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. Garrett was released on bond.

December 26, 2018

Dwayne Dillon, 47, Joppa was arrested in the 700 block of E. 12th St. Dillon was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Burglary and Theft. Dillon was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 2000 block of Greenview. Upon arrival, Offices were informed by the victim that she was punched numerous times by Noah LB Tanner, 24, Metropolis. Officers observed injuries to the victim. Tanner was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 27, 2018

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a gray Chevrolet for speeding 61 mph in posted 45 mph zone on US 45 and Massac Creek. A computer check revealed that the driver, Marcy F. Hillman, 27 Metropolis had a revoked driver’s license and had no proof of insurance. Hillman was arrested. A search revealed two plastic baggies containing Cannabis in her pockets. A search of the vehicle and a backpack found numerous baggies, more Cannabis, digital scales, and numerous pills (Xanax and Diazepam). Hillman was arrested and charged with Driving while license revoked, speeding, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, possession of controlled substances, possession of Cannabis with the intent to deliver, possession of drug paraphernalia. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 28, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to the Citgo. The employee stated that a subject ran from the store with a bottle of alcohol without paying for it. It was captured on video. Officers viewed the video. The investigation led to the arrest of Douglas e. Wade, 18, Metropolis. Wade had an odor of an alcoholic beverage on his breath. A preliminary breath tests showed he had consumed alcohol. Wade was arrested for retail theft and consumption of alcohol by a minor. Wade was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 29, 2018

Deandre L. Barnes, 23, Metropolis was arrested at 12th and Filmore. Barnes was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for leaving the scene of an accident. Barnes was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
