Union County State's Attorney issued the following announcement on Dec. 27.
Union County State’s Attorney Tyler R. Edmonds announced the following sentences to the Illinois Department of Corrections:
Jonathan Scott Cruse (DOB: 10/10/1985) of Anna, Illinois has been sentenced to five (5) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony). Cruse will also serve a one (1) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Cruse was arrested in July 2018 following an investigation by the Union County Sheriff’s Office / Union County Drug Task Force.
Matthew Paul Wettig (DOB: 1/29/1989) of Anna, Illinois was sentenced to three (3) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony). Wettig will also serve a two (2) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Wettig was arrested in September 2018 following an investigation conducted by the Anna Police Department. The Union County Sheriff’s Office assisted with the investigation.
Joshua Brent Baker (DOB: 4/15/1984) of Anna, Illinois was sentenced to six (6) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of a Weapon by a Felon (Class 2 Felony). Baker will also serve a three (3) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Baker was arrested in September 2018 following an investigation conducted by the Union County Sheriff’s Office. Anna Police, Illinois State Police, Illinois Conservation Police and Cobden Police assisted in the investigation. Baker was sentenced as a Class X offender based upon prior criminal history.
Bethany M. Hurt (DOB: 5/29/1994) of Carbondale, Illinois has been sentenced to two (2) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Unlawful Possession of Methamphetamine (Class 3 Felony). She will also serve a one (1) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Hurt was arrested following a traffic stop conducted by Union County Sheriff’s Deputies in July 2017.
Tanesa R. Taylor (DOB: 7/17/1995) of Carbondale, Illinois has been sentenced to two (2) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to one (1) count of Identity Theft (Class 3 Felony). Taylor will also serve a one (1) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Taylor was arrested in February 2018 following an investigation conducted by the Anna Police Department which showed that she used a stolen debit card at an Anna business in October 2017.
Robert Wayne Roach (DOB: 4/4/1982) of Anna, Illinois has been sentenced to two (2) years in the Illinois Department of Corrections after pleading guilty to two (2) counts of Retail Theft (Class 4 Felony). Roach will also serve a one (1) year Mandatory Supervised Release. Roach was charged after an investigation by the Anna Police Department which showed that he took merchandise from two different Anna businesses in May and June of 2018.
