Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 17.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, December 9-15, 2018;

December 9, 2018

Mark E. Edwards, 33, Metropolis was arrested in the 500 block of E. 11th St. Edwards was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for possession of drug paraphernalia. Edwards was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 10, 2018

A Metropolis Officer observed an orange Dodge Turning onto to Ferry St. The driver was recognized as Michelle L. Choate, 37, Metropolis. The officer was aware that her driver’s license was suspended. A stop was conducted, and Choate was arrested. She was charged with driving while license suspended and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

December 11, 2018

A Metropolis Sergeant observed a silver dodge SUV on 8th and Market. The Sergeant recognized the driver as Paul C McClamma,64, Metropolis. The Sergeant was aware that McClamma did not have a valid driver’s license. A traffic stop was conducted. McClamma could not provide proof of insurance. McClamma was arrested and charged with no valid driver’s license and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. McClamma was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a white Chevrolet Malibu on Industrial Drive and Devers Rd. The officer was aware that the registration had been cancelled. A computer check confirmed that the plates were still cancelled and the driver, Christina R. Coburn, 46, Metropolis had a suspended driver’s license. A search of her purse found a “loaded syringe” with a liquid testing positive for Meth. Coburn was charged with driving while license suspended, operation of a motor vehicle with cancelled registration, possession of Meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Coburn was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a red Jeep for expired registration on E.5th and Metropolis St. A computer check revealed that the driver, Benjamin R. Griggs, 42, Metropolis had an expired driver’s license. Griggs could not provide proof of insurance. Griggs was charged with No valid driver’s license (expired) and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Griggs was released on bond.

December 13, 2018

Martha E. Pulley,35, Metropolis was arrested at Metropolis Drugs I. Employees stated that Pulley was causing a disturbance and was asked numerous times to leave and that she was trespassed from the property. Pulley refused to leave. Pulley was arrested for criminal trespass to property. She was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. Pulley was released on bond.

December 15, 2018

A Metropolis Sergeant observed a white Chevrolet Impala fail to stop for the stop sign on E. 3rd and Metropolis Street. A traffic stop was made. The Sergeant recognized the driver as Steven J. Youman, 24, Metropolis. The Sergeant was aware that Youman’s driver’s license was revoked. A computer check confirmed this. Youman was arrested and charged with disobeying a stop sign and driving while license revoked. Youman was transported to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. He was released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
