Union County Board of Supervisors met Oct. 1.

Here is the minutes provided by the board:

The Union County Board of Supervisors met in Regular Session on Monday October 1, 2018. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 AM with the following members present: Ron Riley and Dale Cline. Dennis Brown was absent.

AGENDA: Motion by Cline and seconded by Riley to approve the Agenda. All voting aye, motion carried.

MINUTES: Motion by Riley and seconded by Cline to approve the minutes from September 24, 2018. All voting aye, motion carried.

OPEN FORUM: Rick Friday told the board that he had spoken with the Governor’s Office and Senator Joni Ernst and both let him know that there may be some grants that might be able to help the county for the Communications Systems. Tim Ostroski informed the board that the pass thru grant has officially closed as of September 24th 2018. Ostroski checked on grants for the board but as of yet not finding any that would help the board. There may be some USDA Loans, but need to watch the interest rate.

ENGINEER: Union County Engineer, Zach Gunsolley, presented and discussed the weekly maintenance activity report. Utility Permit: Motion by Cline and seconded by Riley to approve the Utility Permit with Windstream for a Utility Pole on Monroe Avenue in Section 18 of Douglas Township. All voting aye, motion carried. Utility Permit: Motion by Cline and seconded Riley to approve the Utility Permit with Windstream for placing 2 buried service wire across Ivy Ave in Section 16 of Lincoln Township. All voting aye, motion carried. New Employee: Motion by Cline and seconded by Riley to approve Kenny Werner for Equipment Operator 1 position at $15.21 per hour as recommended by Union County Engineer, Zach Gunsolley. All voting aye, motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT: There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 12:48pm
