Johnson County Sheriff's Office issued the following announcement on Dec. 6.
Someone is calling and saying they are with the Social Security office and your social security card has been found in a confiscated car with drug etc. They're are asking for your SS number. DO NOT give your personal information to anyone. This is a scam. Hang up and look for the phone number yourself for the Social Security office and call them. If something like this has really happened they should have the information for you. They will not call if something like this were to happen. They would mail you the information. Please use caution when receiving these phone calls.
