Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Dec. 3. 

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, November 25-December 1, 2018;

November 25, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to the Humma’s Apartments on E. 3rd. The caller advised that he could hear that somebody was in an apartment. The occupant of the apartment had recently died and there should not be any one inside. Upon arrival, the caller showed us a cut window screen and the officers observed the window was ajar. Officers gained entry and found Larry D. Reigger,54, Golconda, IL inside. Reigger stated that he used to stay in the apartment from time to time. Officers contacted Massac County Housing who stated that Reigger did not have permission to stay there. Reigger was arrested and charged with criminal damage to property and criminal trespass to property. A computer check revealed that Reigger was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County reference a burglary charge. Reigger was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis K9 officer observed a red Chevrolet pick up truck weave into the center median on W. 10th and Jon Street. A traffic stop was conducted and signs of impairment from the driver were observed. An odor of an alcoholic beverage was detected on the driver’s breath. The driver, William W. Jackson, 36, Kevil, KY was given some field sobriety tests which he failed. Jackson was arrested for DUI and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 26, 2018

A Metropolis Officer stopped a gold colored Pontiac on W. 10th near Airport Rd for a defective taillight. A computer check revealed that the driver, James B Cannamore, 27, Metropolis had a suspended driver’s license. He also did not have insurance. Cannamore was arrested and charged with driving while suspended and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Cannamore was able to post bond and was released after being processed.

November 27, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to the Quality Inn on E. 5th St. Offices were advised that a female was on the property who refused to leave. A computer check on Danette K. Lewis, 49, Metropolis revealed that she was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for a DUI related charged. Lewis was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Destiny Michelle Wright,22, Metropolis was arrested for driving while license suspended. A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a blue Kia on US 45 and Devers. A computer check revealed that her license was suspended. Wright was released on bond.

December 1, 2018

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a red Pontiac on Metropolis St and 18th, for an expired registration sticker. A computer check on the driver, Cynthia K Klopfenstein, 41, Metropolis revealed that her driver’s license was suspended. Klopfenstein was arrested and was released on bond.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
