City of Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 19.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, November 11-17, 2018;

November 11, 2018

Metropolis Officers received a 911 call that an employee of the Baymont Inn was chasing a subject down Ferry St. Officers responded to the area and finally caught up with the employee who showed us were the person he was chasing ran to. Officers located the subject, identified as Justin C Stuart,31, Metropolis. A computer check revealed that he was wanted on multiple warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for driving while license suspended, attempting to flee and elude police and resisting arrest. Stuart was taken into custody. Upon speaking with the official from Baymont, officers learned that Stuart was found in a hotel room that was supposed to be unoccupied. When confronted and asked how he got into the room, Stuart fled, and the chase was on. Stuart was charged with theft as well as the warrants. Stuart was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 12, 2018

At Approximately 2:00am, Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 900 block of Ophia. Upon arrival, Officers observed numerous personal items thrown around the front yard of the residence. Lamar D. Tyson, 24, Metropolis was yelling and threatening the female and her mother who were attempting to pick up the items. Tyson was informed numerous times to quiet down. Tyson refused and continued his attempt to provoke the women. Tyson was warned that he was about to be arrested for disorderly conduct. Tyson went into the residence but came out a short time later and continued his belligerence. Tyson was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of E. 19th for a theft. The victim advised that his log splitter that had two flat tires was stolen. Officers could see drag marks and started following them. Officers were led to a residence in the 900 block of May Ave where the marks stopped. Officers spoke with a subject who advised that Casey M. Suggs, 43, Metropolis was working on one in the garage. She opened the garage door and officers located the splitter. The victim was called to the residence and identified the splitter as his. Suggs was arrested for theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Shannon L. Goss,31, Metropolis was arrested in the parking lot of Casey’s General Store. Goss was wanted on warrants issued by Massac County. The warrants were for possession of Meth, possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. Goss was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 14, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 100 block of E. 20th. The caller stated that a subject refused to leave. Upon arrival, a subject was leaving in a red Jeep Cherokee. A computer check revealed that the registered owner had a suspended driver’s license. Officers confirmed that the subject leaving was the person they were called about. Officers then went after the Jeep and located it proceeding down Metropolis Street. A traffic stop was conducted and a computer check on the driver, Tyler W. Wilson, 27, Verona, KY, revealed that his driver’s license was suspended. Wilson was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officers stopped a red Chevrolet Pick-up truck on N/B Devers near the Frontage Road. A computer check revealed that the registration plates were suspended. A computer check on the driver, Steven M. Jones,33, Herrin, IL, revealed that his driver’s license was expired. Jones was also wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Saline County, IL for Possession of stolen auto or related offenses. Jones was charged with the warrant and with no valid driver’s license, suspended registration and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Jones was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 15, 2018

A Metropolis Officers stopped a maroon Pontiac on Us 45 near Devers Rd for disobeying a red light. A computer check on the driver, Patricia E. Williams,42, Metropolis revealed that she had a suspended driver’s license. She could not provide proof of insurance. Williams was arrested and charged with driving while suspended, disobeying traffic control signal and operation of an uninsured motor vehicle. Williams was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
