Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 13.
From the desk of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, November 4-10, 2018;
November 5, 2018
Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 1700 block of Ferry. The victim stated she observed a male subject with a black backpack steal mail from her mailbox. Officers checked the area and found a person matching the description sitting on the front porch a few houses down. He was looking at an envelope. When confronted he gave conflicting stories about the envelope he was holding. When asked his name, he gave a name that was not his. As he was taken into custody, a search was conducted, and his birth certificate was found in his pocket. Gerald Cody Moore,27, Metropolis was charged with theft and obstructing justice. Moore was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
November 6, 2018
Walter P. Bauer,33, Metropolis was arrested at 5th and Butler. Bauer was wanted on two warrants issued by Massac County. One warrant was for theft and the other was for failure to register-sex offender. Bauer was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 800 block of E. 3rd St. Upon arrival, the victim stated she was struck in the chest and kicked in the leg. Thomas L Caldwell,60, Metropolis was arrested for Domestic Battery and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
November 7, 2018
Robby W. Thompson,71, Metropolis was arrested at the courthouse annex. Thompson was wanted on two warrants. The warrants were issued by Massac County for Forgery and Theft. Thompson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
November 9, 2018
Metropolis Officers were called to the Citgo. Officers viewed video surveillance showing a subject identified as Joe Taylor, 26, Metropolis remove a bottle of vodka from the shelf, place it in a bag and leave the store without paying for it. A few hours later, Officers were informed that Taylor was back at Citgo. Officers responded and found him playing slot machines. Taylor was arrested for retail theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence in the 1200 block of Ferry St. Upon arrival, Officers observed Rheanna N Collins-Busclaus,28, Metropolis in the living room. Officers were aware that she was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for criminal trespass to vehicle. Also located in the residence was Samuel S. Stalions, 37, Metropolis. Stalions was also wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for bringing contraband into a prison/jail. Both were arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.
The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
