Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Nov. 7.

From the Office of Director of Public Safety: Weekly Arrest Summry, October 28-November 3, 2018;

October 28, 2018

Metropolis Police arrested Joseph A Mounce,30, Metropolis at a residence in the 500 block of W. 20th St. Mounts was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Domestic Battery. Mounts was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant observed James C. Stephens 36, Metropolis leaving the Huck’s gas station. The Sergeant was aware that Stevens was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for a Sex Offender registration violation. A search was conducted, and Meth and drug paraphernalia was found in an eye glass case. Stevens was charged with the warrant, possession of Meth and possession of Meth paraphernalia. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer observed a subject riding on a bike in the 900 block of Ferry. The officer recognized the subject as David E. Williams,58, Metropolis. The officer was aware that Williams was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for felony Retail Theft. Williams was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

October 29, 2018

Metropolis Officers were informed that a gray Dodge Ram pick-up had been stolen from a residence. Officers checked the area with the assistance from an ISP Sergeant who was in the area. The truck was located in front of a residence in the 500 block of W. 20th. The vehicle tried to take off but was blocked in by squad cars. Jordan TK Schmidt,29, Metropolis was taken into custody. A search revealed a clear plastic baggie containing Meth. Schmidt was charged with Theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, driving while license suspended and possession of meth. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a blue Honda Accord din the 900 block of Market St. A computer check showed that the registration plates were revoked due to non-insurance. A computer check on the driver, Danny E. King,38, Metropolis showed that his driver’s license was suspended. King was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant stopped a red Chevrolet S-10 as it pulled into the Family Dollar. The Sergeant was aware that the registered owner of the vehicle had a revoked driver’s license. The driver, Darrell W. Hines II, 40, Vienna was arrested. During a search, the Sergeant located a black eyeglass case in Hine’s pocket. The eyeglass case contained a clear baggie containing Meth as well as other drug paraphernalia. Hines was charged with driving while license revoked, possession of Meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hines was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant received information from a local car dealer that a subject identified as Chad P. Kenny, 42, Fulton Ky was at the dealership. Supposedly the girlfriend was on her way with money to purchase a car. Kenny was observed to be armed with a handgun in a holster on his hip. Kenny was a convicted felon for auto theft charges and had numerous auto theft warrants issued by departments in Louisiana. The Metropolis Sergeant, Police Chief and Detective Sergeant attempted to get into position to stake out the establishment. Kenny left the lot in a red Ford before they could set up. The sergeant attempted to make a traffic stop on US 45 prior to I-24. A pursuit ensued and entered KY. The pursuit left he interstate at exit 3 and east onto Cairo Rd. the pursuit continued through Paducah and Lone Oak where Kenny finally gave up. During the pursuit numerous items were thrown from Kenny’s vehicle. Some of which were counterfeit money and the handgun. McCracken County Deputies took Kenny into custody and found some controlled substances, the holster and extra ammunition. Kenny was charged with Aggravated Fleeing to elude and Reckless Driving by the Sergeant. McCracken County charged him with numerous offenses as well. Additional warrants will be sought after the investigation is completed.

A 15 year old juvenile was arrested for theft and possession of a shotgun without a FOID card.

October 30, 2018

Christina L Avila,37, Metropolis was arrested at her residence on Adkins St. Avila who was intoxicated, called 911 eleven times in an hour to complain that somebody stole her Halloween costume. Avila was charged with disorderly conduct and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

October 31, 2018

James Scott Fulkerson,61, Metropolis was arrested at the Citgo. Fulkerson attempted to steal a beer by hiding it in his jacket sleeve. Fulkerson was charged with retail theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Lottie R. Sexton,48, Metropolis was arrested at the Super 8 Motel. Sexton was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Battery. Sexton was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 1, 2018

A Metropolis Officer stopped a Green Ford pick-up for equipment violations in the 400 block of Girard. The plates came back to a Chrysler Van. A computer check of the driver, Michael J. Seaton,33, Metropolis revealed that he had a revoked driver’s license. Seaton could not provide proof of insurance. Seaton was arrested and charged with Driving while license revoked, operation of an uninsured motor vehicle, no valid registration and improper use of registration. Seaton was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

November 2, 2018

Jennifer R. Wilson,27, Metropolis was arrested in the 100 block of E. 5th. Wilson was wanted on a warrant issued by Massac County. The warrant was for Battery. Wilson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
