September 25, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to Huck’s in reference to suspicious activity. Upon arrival, Officers made

Contact with Thomas JJ Williams, 28, Joppa. The Metropolis K9 alerted to the presence of contraband inside his blue Hyundai. Officers located a syringe and a loaded handgun which was in the glove box. A computer check revealed that Williams did not possess a valid FOID (IL Firearms owner identification card). Williams was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 27, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to a domestic disturbance at a residence on Adkins. Upon arrival, Officers observed a subject standing next to a vehicle in the driveway. The subject refused to identify himself and was very belligerent. Offices were able to meet with the victim who advised that she was struck by the subject later identified as Kerry J. Ezell, 56, Metropolis. Ezell resisted efforts to be handcuffed and attempted to break free. Ezell was charged with domestic battery, resisting arrest and obstructing ID. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Jennifer R. Wilson,27, Metropolis was arrested in the 200 block of E. 5th St. Wilson was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for Battery. Wilson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 28, 2018

David R. Quimby, 38, Burna, KY was arrested at the Parkview apts. Quimby was found to be at a residence there, after being trespassed. Quimby was charged with Criminal Trespass to property and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Officers were called to Big John’s for a theft. Upon arrival, officers viewed video footage of the theft. Officers observed the subject later identified as Serenity Rae Johnston, 18, Metropolis removed a package of donuts from the shelf and stick them down the front of her pants. She then left the store without paying for them. Officers were able to track her down and she was arrested. Johnston was charged with retail theft and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Metropolis Police were called to a residence in the 500 block of W. 8th St. The caller reported that there was a White Male, looking into the residence and it appeared that one of the window Air Conditioner Units were missing and there was a second unit on the ground. It was also reported that the rear door of the residence was standing open. Upon arrival, the caller advised that the suspects had just left in a purple colored vehicle and the driver was possible “Cody Moore”. Officers caught up to it as it pulled into Casey’s. The driver, Gerald Cody Moore,27, Joppa advised he was homeless and looking for an internet connection. The officer asked about the backpack next to him and he denied owning the backpack stating, “he found it”. A search revealed Meth and paraphernalia. Additional Meth and paraphernalia were located in the driver’s door panel. Moore was charged with possession of Meth and Meth paraphernalia. The occupants of the residence were not able to be located. Additional charges may be pending.

September 29, 2018

Metropolis Officers were called to a residence in the 900 block of E. 6th. Upon arrival, officers were informed that Clifford Van Reed, 44, Metropolis was at the residence yelling and threatening them with a pipe. Officers located Van Reed near Main St. Reed still had the pipe and a bottle of alcohol in his possession. He was arrested for disorderly conduct and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Officer stopped a white Buick on US 45 and E. 7th St. The vehicle did not have its headlights on as required. A computer check revealed that the driver, Darin ED Nicholson, 31, Hammond, IN, had suspended driver’s license. Nicholson was arrested and taken to the Metropolis Police Dept for processing. Nicholson was able to post bond and was released.

Rachael K. Ciprian, 37, Metropolis was arrested in the 200 block of W. 12th St. Ciprian was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Johnson County, IL for failure to appear. She was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
