Massac County Emergency Management Agency issued the following announcement on Sept. 28.
On October 3rd at 1:18 p.m. most wireless phones will receive a message through the Wireless Emergency Alert System (WEA). No action is needed, as this is only a test of the nation's emergency communications infrastructure.
An EAS message will appear on television at 1:20 p.m. to complete this first-ever joint test of the Emergency Warning System.
