Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 25.

From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, September 16-22, 2018;

September 16, 2018

The Metropolis Canine Officer stopped a White Nissan pick-up truck in the 1200 block of Ferry for failing to use a turn signal. After stopping the driver, Jeremy J. Stevens, 37, Metropolis exited the vehicle. The Officer conducted a free air sniff around the vehicle and the dog alerted to the presence of drugs. A search revealed a large amount of Meth and scales, baggies and other drug paraphernalia. Stevens was charged with Possession of Methamphetamine with the intent to deliver and possession of drug paraphernalia. Stevens was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 18, 2018

Amanda J. Baker, 30, Metropolis was arrested at 5th and Metropolis St. Baker was wanted on a Massac County warrant. The warrant was issued for Battery. Baker was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 20, 2018

Metropolis Police were called to Big John’s reference to a theft. Officers viewed the video surveillance which showed a subject they recognized as Richard M. Greathouse, 30, Metropolis removed beer and conceal it. He then left the store without paying for it. Officers were also looking for Greathouse due to him being at Citgo after being previously trespassed from the property. Greathouse was located in the Spence apartment Complex after a short foot chase. He was charged with Retail Theft and Criminal Trespass to Property. Greathouse was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Clifford Van Reed, 44, Metropolis was arrested in the 800 block of E. 7th. Reed was charged with Criminal Damage to State Supported Property for damaging a door at the Spence apartments. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestees are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
