CITY OF METROPOLIS POLICE DEPARTMENT: From the Office of the Director of Public Safety: Arrest Summary, September 2-9, 2018

City of Metropolis Police Department issued the following announcement on Sept. 12.

September 2, 2018

A Metropolis Officer stopped a black KIA on US 45 near Faughn Lane. The KIA had suspended registration plates. A computer check also revealed that the driver, Willard C Croft,21, Salem, KY had a suspended driver’s license. Croft was arrested and charged with both offenses. He was taken to the Metropolis Police Dept. for processing. Croft was able to post bond and was released.

Jimmy D Griffin,23, Metropolis was arrested on 12th and North Ave. Griffin was wanted on a warrant. The warrant was issued by Massac County for probation violation. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 4, 2018

Metropolis Officers were advised that Rusty L. Anderson was at a residence in the 100 block of 2nd Ave. on a black motorcycle. Officers were aware that Anderson, 31, Paducah, KY, had warrants and a suspended driver’s license. A Metropolis Officer observed that Anderson pulled into the parking lot of Big John’s. Anderson was advised he was under arrest. Anderson dropped a hypodermic needle/syringe on the ground. Anderson was charged with the Massac County warrant (suspended driver’s license), driving while suspended and possession of drug paraphernalia. Anderson was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

Sherrie Ann Horne,38, metropolis was arrested at a residence in the 400 block of W. 6th St. Horne was wanted on warrants. A warrant was issued by Massac County for Retail Theft. Orange County, FL issued a warrant for Probation Violation. Horne was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 6, 2018

On 08/20/18, a victim came into the Metropolis Police Department to advise her payroll checks were stolen. She advised that her boss mailed them to her old address and somebody cashed them. An investigation was initiated which led the officers to Charlie’s Party Hut. The offenders cashed the check there. They had also tried to cash them at a local bank and was captured on video. This investigation led to the arrest of Robby W. Thompson, 71, Metropolis and Tammy R. Smith, 48, Metropolis. They were charged with Forgery and Theft. Both were lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 8, 2018

Ricky D. Collins, 32, Metropolis was arrested at a residence in the 500 block of W. 8th. Collins was wanted on 2 Massac County warrants. The warrants were for Unlawful Restraint and Domestic Battery. Collins was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

A Metropolis Sergeant observed Joshua MO Davis, 32, Metropolis riding a bike on Metropolis St and E. 15th. The sergeant was aware that Davis was wanted on a warrant. He signaled Davis to stop and a pursuit began. This went for a few blocks then Davis got off the bike and fled on foot and into the woods. A perimeter was set up and Davis was located hiding by some bushes by a Massac County Deputy. Davis resisted arrest but was taken into custody. Davis was charged with the Massac County warrant (Possession of Meth) and Resisting Arrest. He was lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

September 9, 2018

Metropolis Police were called to a residence in the 800 block of E. 6th St. The complainant stated that Jackie R. Lloyd, 52, Metropolis cussed at his young daughter and he was tired of Lloyd’s disruptive behavior. Lloyd also swore at the complainant when he asked to not swear at his daughter. MPD has been at the Lloyd’s residence numerous times due to her intoxication and behavior. The complainant signed a complaint for Disorderly Conduct. Lloyd was arrested and lodged in the Massac County Detention Center.

The preceding information pertains to arrests made by the Metropolis Police Department. These arrests are made on the basis of probable cause and all arrestee's are presumed innocent until proven guilty.
