Anna Jonesboro Community High School District 81 Board met July 16. 

Here is the minutes as provided by the board:

The Anna-Jonesboro Community High School held its regular meeting on July 16, 2018. Upon roll call at 7:00 p.m. the following members were present: Dr. Teske, Mr. Reach, Mr. Hughey, Mr. Edwards, and Mrs. Boget. Dr. Blakely arrived at 6:55. Also present was Superintendent Wright, Principal Detering and Curriculum Director Finders.


On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Mr. Edwards to approve the Agenda as written. All members present voting yes.

On motion by Mrs. Boget and seconded by Dr. Reach to approve the Consent Agenda which contained the following items: approval of board minutes on 6/18/2018; approval of closed session minutes; approval of payment for bills, acceptance of financial reports, destruction of closed session tapes. On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried.

Recognition of Visitors: Jake Basler and Danyelle Meisenheimer with UCSL came to discuss soccer fields.

Mr. Finders presented a power point on Social Emotional Learning Outcomes.

Mr. Detering discussed failures for the 2017-2018 school year.

Superintendent Wright reported that the grant application for the School Health Center has been completed. The roofing project is moving forward, the bleacher project is nearing completion and someone has been contacted about landscaping that needs to be done around this area. The oil and chip portion of the parking lot repairs have been completed. Some budget numbers have been submitted for a security grant being written by the Union County Sheriff’s Department.

On motion by Mr. Edwards and seconded by Dr. Blakely for the Board to enter into closed session for the following reasons (1) the purpose of appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employee of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public to determine its validity. 5ILCS 120/2(c)(1). On roll call, all members present voting yes. Motion carried. The board entered into closed session at 7:10 p.m.

On motion by Dr. Teske and seconded by Mr. Boget to return to regular session at 8:10 p.m. On roll call all members voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Mrs. Boget to approve keeping all Closed Session Minutes closed. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

A cafeteria report was distributed to board members.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Mr. Edwards to approve Agreement between Owner and Architect without a Predefined Scope of the Architect’s Services. All members present voting yes. Motion carried.

On motion by Mr. Hughey and seconded by Mrs. Boget to hire Kerri Jones-Treece as the Physical Education teacher for the 2018-2019 school year. On roll call, all members voting yes. Motion Carried.

On motion by Mrs. Boget and seconded by Dr. Teske to approve Dana Stute as sponsor for National Honor Society. On roll call, all members voting yes. Motion Carried.

On motion by Dr. Teske and seconded by Dr. Blakely to approve Ben Godinez as volunteer boys soccer coach pending background check and IHSA certification requirements. All members present voting yes. Motion Carried.

On motion by Mr. Edwards and seconded by Mrs. Boget to approve the Final Reading/Approval Board Policy Updates. All members present voting yes. Motion Carried.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Mr. Hughey to approve the Board Member Estimated Expenses. On roll call, all members voting yes. Motion Carried.

Old School Business: NONE

Other School Business: Soccer Field Update.

On motion by Dr. Reach and seconded by Mr. Hughey to adjourn the Regular Meeting at 8:31 p.m. All members voting yes. Motion carried.

The next regularly scheduled Meeting is Monday, August 20, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the Superintendent's Office.
