Anna Community School District No. 37 Board of Education students suspended 52 times in a single school year

Anna Community School District No. 37 Board of Education reported 52 suspensions for 2016-17, according to the latest student discipline report by the Illinois State Board of Education.

According to the report, the district expelled or suspended 52 students during the year. That equates to 7.4 percent of the 700 students enrolled.

Of the 25 in-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most in-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 21 incidents. There were four incidents of violence without physical injury. For 24 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.

Of the 27 out-of-school suspensions, all of whom were elementary or middle schoolers.

The district reported that most out-of-school suspensions were given for unspecified reasons. The category includes 14 incidents. There were 10 incidents of violence without physical injury. For 14 incidents, students were suspended for a day or less.
