Rural Pope County FPD responds to 19 fires in 2017

Rural Pope County Fire Protection District responded to 19 calls in 2017 - 32.1 percent less than the previous year, according to data from the National Fire Incident Reporting System.

The calls in Rural Pope County included 19 fires - one structure fire, seven vehicle fires and 11 other fires.

In all, the department saw $105,000 in fire loss - or about $5,526 per fire.

The Rural Pope County Fire Protection District had an annual budget of $163,242 in 2017.
