Report: Goreville spent $9,286 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Goreville Community Unit School District 1 is down 2 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Johnson County school district spent $9,434 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,286 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 620 to 630.

Goreville's spending in 2016-17 was 28 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
