Report: New Simpson Hill spent $9,530 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at New Simpson Hill School District 32 is up 4 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Johnson County school district spent $9,147 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,530 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 261 to 243.

New Simpson Hill's spending in 2016-17 was 27 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
