Report: Egyptian spent $9,560 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Egyptian Community Unit School District 5 is down 14 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Alexander County school district spent $11,094 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,560 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 564 to 474.

Egyptian's spending in 2016-17 was 26 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
