Report: Buncombe spent $9,995 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Buncombe Consolidated School District 43 is up 22 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Johnson County school district spent $8,183 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $9,995 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment fall over the same period, from 72 to 56.

Buncombe's spending in 2016-17 was 23 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
