Report: Massac County spent $10,062 per student in 2016-17

Spending per pupil at Massac County Unit School District #1 is up 11 percent from five years ago, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of district finances.

The Illinois State Board of Education 2016-17 report card shows the Massac County school district spent $9,033 per pupil in 2012-13. It spent $10,062 in 2016-17.

The district saw its enrollment rise over the same period, from 2187 to 2214.

Massac County's spending in 2016-17 was 22 percent lower than the state average of $12,973.
