Analysis: Metropolis pays $5.77 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Metropolis Police Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 85.2 percent of the $529,681 the Metropolis Police Pension Fund brought in last year, or $5.77 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Metropolis contributed $451,546 to the fund, which saw a $119,045 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $78,135, or 14.8 percent, in 2016.
