Analysis: Metropolis pays $6.63 for every $1 pensioners contribute to Metropolis Firefighters Pension Fund

Taxpayers contributed 86.9 percent of the $418,527 the Metropolis Firefighters Pension Fund brought in last year, or $6.63 for every $1 from pension members, according to a Southern Illinois News analysis of the latest data reported to the Illinois Department of Insurance Pension Division.

In all, Metropolis contributed $363,680 to the fund, which saw a $119,185 increase in revenue over 2015. Members contributed $54,848, or 13.1 percent, in 2016.
