Egyptian Community Unit School District No. 5 Board of Education met March 16.

The roll call was as follows:

A motion was made by Terry Shafer, second by David Thompson to approve the minutes of the previous meeting. All vote yea.

A motion was made by Diane Blaney, second by Terry Shafer to approve the bills and payroll. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Terry Shafer, second by Justin Schultz to approve the Treasurer’s Report and Investments. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Terry Shafer, second by Diane Blaney to reimburse the Imprest Fund in the amount of $956.74. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Justin Schultz, second by Charlie Cox to go into closed session at 6:25 p.m. to consider information regarding the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the public body or legal counsel for the public body, including hearing testimony on a complaint lodged against an employee of the public body or against legal counsel for the public body to determine its validity, pursuant to 5 ILCS 120/2(c)(1); student disciplinary cases. 5 ILCS 120/2 (c)(9).

A motion was made by David Thompson, second by Charlie Cox to return to the regular meeting at 7:12 p.m. All voted yea.

A motion was made by Justin Schultz, second by Diane Blaney to employ Jada Hudson as an elementary teacher for the 2020-2021 school year pending certification. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by David Thompson, second by Terry Shafer to employ licensured personnel as per attachment. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, present; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 5, Nay votes 0, Present 1. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Terry Shafer, second by David Thompson to honorably discharge the following non- certified personnel at the end of the 2019-2020 school year: Camille Bagby, Alma Banks, Emmalee Bigham, Janice Bigham, Norlisha Carthell, Cierra Crisler, Wilma Edwards, Alyssa Fox, Meghan Henderson, Rachel Honey, Kourtnee McHughs, Erin Miller, Skylar Pecord, Megan Petzoldt, Bobbi Smothers, Gwen Steele and Van Steele. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Justin Schultz, second by David Thompson to approve the Blue Cross/Blue Shield renewal for the 2020-2021 school year. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Terry Shafer, second by Diane Blaney to renew membership in the Illinois High School Association for the school year 2020-2021, and to designate the high school principal as the official representative. The roll call vote was as follows: Diane Blaney, yea; Charlie Cox, yea; Jeremy Greenley, yea; Justin Schultz, yea; Terry Shafer, yea; David Thompson, yea. Yea votes 6, Nay votes 0. Motion carried.
