The price of local government in 2016: Pulaski County

The Pulaski County budget was $12.53 million for its 2016 fiscal year.

That's an increase of 1.7 percent from 2015, when the county spent $12.32 million.

Pulaski County has a population of 6,161.

Since 2001, the Pulaski County budget has grown by 42.9 percent, from $8.77 million. The county population has fallen 16.2 percent over the same period, from 7,348.

Salaries accounted for 43.5 percent of county spending in 2016. Pulaski County property taxpayers paid $5.45 million for 140 full-time employees and two part-time employees.

In 2001, the county had 51 full-time employees and three part-time employees, and spent $1.94 million.
