Johnson County taxpayers ranked 68th in total sales taxes paid per county in March, according to Illinois tax records.

In total, residents paid $164,600 in sales taxes during March.

The county ranked 69th in the Prairie State the month before, with $152,873 spent in sales taxes.

The largest share of sales taxes paid by Johnson County residents in March came from the Special County Retailers Occupation Tax.

The Special County Retailers Occupation Tax, a crucial revenue stream, is primarily allocated for county governments’ use.
