Hardin County Community Unit School District 1 Board of Education met Nov. 24.

Here are the minutes provided by the board:

The Regular called meeting of the Hardin County Community Unit School District No. 1 met in the board room at the District office. The meeting was called to order by Jimmy Stunson at 6:30 p.m. Present were: Greg McDowell, Ryan Cowsert, Jana Cowgill, Brenda Butts, Jeremy Littrell, Samantha Mosby, and Jimmy Stunson. Administrators present: Andy Edmondson, Susan Armstrong, and Johnie Edwards.

Members of the HCEA were recognized as guests.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Mosby to approve the consent agenda as presented. Littrell, yes; McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes.

Administrative reports:

Mrs. Armstrong gave report of IAR testing scores and requested that eligible students be rewarded a trip to the HUB in Marion, IL. (The Board agreed) She also updated the Board about the SABERS screener.

Ms. Edwards reported on the Career fair day and discussed the Academic and Scholarship Banquet.

Mr. Edmondson gave updates on the current projects and status of the heating situation in some rooms.

A motion was made by Littrell and seconded by McDowell to approve the Academic and Scholarship Banquet. McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes.

Mrs. Armstrong reported that we were 100% compliant with Immunizations.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Mosby to approve Press Policy updates (120). Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes.

Mr. Edmondson discussed the EAV and the proposed Tax Levy at 4.95%.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Butts to approve the outside gym drainage bid from VCut. Stunson, yes; Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes.

A motion was made by Cowgill and seconded by Cowsert to approve the MOU with SIUC for Dual Credit classes. Butts, yes; Littrell, yes; McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes. 7 yes, 0 no, motion carried.

A motion was made by Cowsert and seconded by Littrell to approve participation in SIJHSAA for 2026. Littrell, yes; McDowell, yes; Mosby, yes; Cowsert, yes; Cowgill, yes; Stunson, yes; Butts, yes.
